About MISA

Founded in August 2003, the Massage in Schools Association England Wales and Northern Ireland (MISA EWNI) is a national not-for-profit voluntary organisation.  Our purpose is to support our membership of Massage in Schools Programme Instructors and promote the Massage in Schools Programme (MISP). We also play an important role in raising awareness of the Massage in Schools Programme throughout the world as part of MISA International.

Our goal:

Our goal is to develop a committed, enthusiastic organisation that will work with integrity to support its members to empower every child through the Massage in Schools Programme.

Our vision

Our vision is that every child attending school experiences positive and nurturing touch every day, everywhere in the world.

Our members are Instructors with the Massage in Schools Programme (MISP). They include teachers, head teachers, teaching assistants, learning mentors, health visitors, school nurses, school governors, parents, complementary therapists, counsellors, educational psychologists, childcare workers from Sure Start, Barnardo’s and others!

Benefits of MISA membership

On successful completion of the two-day training or equivalent online training, instructors become life-time members of MISA.  MISA started the life-time membership system in 2016 and some lapsed members did not transfer to the new database.  Please contact MISA if you are not currently a life-time member and would like to be.  Email

MISA Membership Benefits include:
  • Access to our members only area which contains a wealth of information including templates, comprehensive research, positive touch activities and much more
  • Insurance for instructors who work independently of an organisation
  • On-going support from the MISA EWNI Committee
  • Information about MISP development
  • Newsletter – with email information for special events such as Anti-Bullying Week

If you are a member of MISA, we are always looking for new members to join the committee, so whether you’re a good organiser, can write with flair or you’re just keen to help out, get in touch with us today to discover how your skills can benefit the Association. Contact
